Switzerland, as a modern society, is exposed to a variety of different types of risks, some of which are easily recognisable and others that are less obvious and direct. Thus, Switzerland is faced with developments, such as globalisation and a subsequent growing interconnectedness, climate change, demographic changes, economic and political risks, as well as risks resulting from new technologies or natural disasters. In future, individual events or developments can no longer be considered separately, but in particular the interdependencies, as well as connections, need to be taken into account.
Identify and assess risks
The group work focussed on identifying and assessing the various challenges and their interconnectedness with each other. Scenarios were developed for possible courses of developments or events for Switzerland for analysis, and based on those appropriate recommendations for action developed. Key was to work through the risk management process and focus on the current situation in Switzerland. The work on the case study was supplemented by keynote presentations and background information and supported by presenting partner Helvetia Insurance Switzerland.
