Institutes
The institutes are connected to the HSG financially, conceptually and above all in terms of personnel; the managers responsible come from our professorate. The institutes nevertheless operate as largely autonomous units that are run as businesses. They are particularly active in the areas of research, further education and services, and in advising businesses and government departments.
The HSG institutes play a major role in training new researchers. They train institute members at the interface between research and practice. The creation of spin-off businesses from our environment is thus promoted in a targeted way.
The "Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics" is responsible for teaching mathematical and statistical methods at all levels of the HSG. In addition, the faculty engages in quantitatively oriented research in various areas of economics.

Centres
The HSG centres have evolved through the cooperation of the institutes and research institutes of the HSG. The aim is to collaborate across institutes on certain important topics. HSG centres are virtual centres that should not be confused with centres of competence within the institutes. The new centres - which have existed since 2006 – also have a showcase function.
